Khi Community Covid-19 Update

The Salvation Army Khi Community is committed to creating and maintaining a safe space for all people to gather and build supportive relationships. Since 2020 we have implemented many new policies in order to adapt safely to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Please note, our response to COVID changes according to current public health requirements and standards. Please see policy and procedure updates below.

Food Appointments

The Khi Community Market is now fully open for appointments. Recognizing that some remain uncomfortable with in-person shopping due to COVID threats we continue to offer low-contact curbside appointments. If you prefer a curbside pre-packaged food appointment please let us know when booking.

Khi Community Church

Throughout the pandemic we have found ways to worship, pray, and fellowship together virtually (Zoom video conferencing platform) and in-person as public health recommendations allow. At present we are using a hybrid approach to gatherings, offering many in-person opportunities while acknowledging that some people are not yet comfortable with this format. We continue to provide Zoom options for most of our gatherings and we encourage those joining us through Zoom to participate fully by joining in conversation, sharing, and prayer.

We are fully complying with provincial and local health guidance.  The health measures in-effect for in-person church gatherings include:

  • Please remain home if you are feeling unwell.
  • Mask wearing is optional.  While some may choose to continue to wear masks, others may choose to leave their masks at home.  Whatever you choose, let's all commit to respecting those who choose differently.
  • Physical distancing is no longer required, however we continue to space seating.
  • Tea, coffee, and pastries are prepared and provided in a self-service format.

As our province reopens and restrictions lift, we will be progressively and safely returning to in-person meetings.  We have reopened our building for worship services on Sunday mornings at 10:30am.  Please note, the following policies will be in effect:

  • Capacity limits will be in place.  All congregants will be required to reserve a seat prior to attending.
  • Physical distancing will be in effect.  Space will therefore be limited.  Please contact Ruth to reserve your seat.
  • Masking, covering both the face and nose, will be required at all times.
  • Prior to attending, all congregants will be required to complete the Covid Screening form.
  • Please enter at the front door, as the side door will be closed and locked.
  • Services will be recorded and streamed online.  By attending the service, congregants agree to being filmed or photographed, and consent that the recordings may be used by The Salvation Army for any and all purposes which they may may deem appropriate.

Even as we reopen, we will continue to offer an online option — on the video conferencing platform Zoom — for those who can not or are unwilling to attend in-person.  These online gatherings will consist of a synchronous video feed of the simultaneous in-person gatherings.  When possible, the online Zoom feed will be interactive, including opportunities for discussion and congregant participation.  For the Zoom contact details, please contact Ruth or Peter (905-514-2935).

Capacity limits

Taking inspiration from provincial health guidelines, we have decided to implement a maximum capacity limit of 100 people for our outdoor gatherings.  We do not expect this limit to be reached, therefore reservations will not be required.  That being said, to assist with planning, Peter and Ruth would appreciate it if you could let them know ahead of time if you are planning on attending.

Screening form

All participants of the outdoor services will be required to complete a Covid-19 screening form.  On the morning of the service, please submit the COVID screening form within an hour of arriving at the gathering.
